Belthangady: 19-year-old college student dies by suicide; police investigating

Mangaluru, Jul 3, 2026: A 19-year-old student of Belthangady Government First Grade College allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself from a tree in front of her house at Kadirudyavara village on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Nikhita (19), a first-year B.Com student. She lived with her mother, and the two were the only members of the household. According to reports, Nikhita was alone at home after her mother left for work in the morning when the incident occurred.
The exact reason behind the alleged suicide is yet to be ascertained. Belthangady police have registered a case and are continuing their investigation.
