Mangalore, Oct 27, 2012 : An Air India Express (AIE) bound to Dubai from Mangalore was delayed at Mangalore International Airport for nearly half an hour when the ground crew noticed that there were some honey bees near the aircraft’s tail.
The plane had landed on Thursday and was parked for over 14 hours on the apron, and it is believed that the bees must have built a small hive at the tail of the aircraft during these hours.
The AIE authorities did not want to take any risk. They delayed the flight for half an hour so that the hive and the bees could be removed. There were a few other technical issues to take care of too, and the flight, which was supposed to have departed at 11:45 a.m., took off at 12:30 p.m.
