Mangalore, Jan 24: The 3-day entertainment extravaganza Beach Utsav organized by the district administration on Panambur Beach as part of the 45-day annual event Karavali Utsav came to an end on Jan 23, Sunday.

A wide range of sports events, games, food fest, dance show, and live music events formed the highlights of this event. Vidyarthi Sangha Bengre won the first prize in the boat race while the Mogaveera Vidyarthi Sangha of Ullal won the second prize. M. Puttamadaiah, the ACP of Panambur, gave away the prizes to the captains of the winning teams.


The grand finale of the throwball and volleyball tournaments was conducted on the final day. The crowds were huge, although the traffic was blocked most of the time.


Events such as skating contests, sand sculpture contests, and kite flying contests were held for teams from all over Mangalore on the beach. The winners of the singing contest were given the unique opportunity of singing with Chaitra, Rajesh Krishnan, and Ganesh Narayanan, who presented a live music show at 7:00 p.m.


High speed boat rides and camel rides were the unique features of the Beach Utsav. A number of families had a great time playing in the water, flying kites, and taking camel and boat rides. A number of ladies were attracted to traditional stalls selling household items such as utensils.


DC Subodh Yadav said that the district administration will make the Beach Utsav a grander event next year. Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Prabhulinga Kavalikatti, and Yathish Bykampady were also present.
