Mangalore Jan 28, 2013 : Thousands of people thronged the Panambur beach on January 27, Sunday to be a part of the final day of the three day Beach Fest and Food Fest organised as part of the Karavali Utsav 2013.
The Kite show by Team Mangalore was the major attraction. Even the kites on sale at several stalls were purchased by enthusiasts and skies above Panambur beach were adorned with colourful kites providing a great spectacle to the people gathered.
Earlier, on January 26, Saturday, a Baby Beach contest was conducted for kids in the age group of two and five. Several participants in attractive outfits walked the ramp and delighted the audience.
The venue of the food festival was also thronged by food buffs who had a good time enjoying delicacies of their choice, be it the favourite coastal cuisines, fast food or just the extra cool ice cream.
Games such as Wheel of fortune and darts for teenagers and a mini-Ferris wheel for children were also equally enjoyed.
On the concluding day there was a boating, skating and swimming contest. Participants even enjoyed horse ride, tonga ride and camel ride.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash said steps would be taken to further popularize the beach fest in the years to come.
The Team Mangalore kite flyers and Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project CEO Yatish Baikampady were felicitated on the occasion.
Krishna Palemar, MLA presided over the function. Dr Harish Kumar, MCC Commissioner, ZP CEO Vijayaprakash, Assistant Commissioner Venkatesh and others were present.
