Bantwal, Aug 2, 2025: Vittal police conducted a raid on an illegal sand stockyard at Kattil in Salethur village, Bantwal, on August 1.

The police had received information that the accused, identified as Abdul Samad, was illegally extracting sand from a river using machinery and stockpiling it. Acting on the tip-off, Vittal Police Sub-Inspector Ratnakumar and his team carried out an inspection.

During the raid, near the Kattil river bridge in Salethur, about one kilometer from the Kerala border, police found around 2 to 3 pickup loads of sand, along with machinery used for sand extraction, iron sieves, fiber baskets, iron ropes, and other equipment used in the illegal activity.

The seized items have been taken into custody. A case has been registered at Vittal Police Station under Crime No. 93/2025, and further investigation is underway.
