Bantwal, Sep 17, 2013 : A convict who was undergoing life imprisonment in a murder case, has escaped while he was on a 45 day parole to see his ailing mother.
The superintendent of the Belgaum jail where the prisoner was lodged, has complained to the Bantwal police.
The escapee is Isubu Moilar alias Yusuf Musliar, resident of Rengelu near Melkar in Panemangalore. He was convicted in the case of killing his second wife Mariamma in 2005 by dumping her naked body in the Phalguni river in Gurupur.
The Bajpe police had arrested him and had filed a charge sheet in the court under IPC Section 302 and 201. After he was convicted he was lodged in the Belgaum prison.
He was granted a 45 day parole recently and was supposed to return to jail on September 4. But, Isubu instead of returning had chosen to flee.
Police have launched a search for him.
