Bantwal: Minor girl sexually assaulted, accused arrested

Bantwal, Sep 12, 2025: The Bantwal Rural Police have arrested a 50-year-old man for sexually exploiting a minor girl.

The accused has been identified as Abubakkar (50), a neighbor of the victim.

According to the complaint, on March 29 at around 5 p.m., while the girl was playing, Abubakkar allegedly took her to the sit-out behind an unoccupied house in the neighborhood and forcibly committed sexual assault.

A case has been registered at Bantwal Rural Police Station under Crime No. 135/2025, Sections 64(1), 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 4(2) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The accused was taken into custody, produced before the court, and remanded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that locals assaulted the accused in connection with the incident. A separate case has been registered under Crime No. 136/2025, Sections 126(2), 115(2), and 351(1) of the BNS.
