Bantwal : Four deacons ordained to priesthood by Archbishop Dr Leo Cornelio

Bantwal, May 4, 2013: Archbishop of Bhopal, Dr Leo Cornelio ordained four deacons belonging to Divine Word Missionaries congregation (SVD Fathers) at St Patrick Church, Siddakatte, on Friday May 3.

Fr Naveen Prashanth Pinto, son of Leena and Paul Pinto of Bantwal, Fr Niran Veigas, son of Richard and Irene Veigas of Thokur, Fr Lloyd Fernandes, son of Cyril and Jecintha Fernandes of Shirva, and Fr Franklin Machado, son of late Vincent Leo and Theresa of Mudarangadi are the newly-ordained priests.

 

 

 

Speaking after ordaining the four to priesthood, Archbishop Cornelio said “There are very few young men taking up the religious vocation in these days. Today I have ordained four men to religious order and appreciate their decision in taking up religious way of life. Times have changed and peoples’ outlook on religion and serving the community are losing ground. I appreciate the parents for their sacrifice made by them and prompting their children to take up religious order.”

Fr Paul Vattatara, Provincial of Indo-Mumbai Province–SVD, Fr Joachim Fernandes, Vice Provincial,  Fr Thomas Sequeira, SVD Seminary Rector, several priests, nuns and deacons attended the ceremony.
