Bajpe: Seven arrested in minor student rape and video circulation case

Bajpe, Sep 2, 2025: Police have arrested seven persons in connection with the rape of a minor student and the circulation of the video on social media.
The arrested have been identified as Karthik, Rakesh Saldana, Jeevan, Sandeep, Rakshith, Shravan, and Suresh.
According to police, the victim, a college student from Kinnikambla near Ganjimutt, came into contact with Karthik on Instagram about two months ago. Their conversations reportedly developed into a romantic relationship. On the last Saturday of June 2025, Karthik allegedly lured her on his scooter to a hotel in Valachil for lunch, and later took her to a forested area near Adyar Falls, where he raped her. He also recorded the act on video and shared it with his friends.
Based on the girl’s complaint filed on August 16, Bajpe police registered a case under the POCSO Act. Karthik and Rakesh Saldana were booked for rape, while Jeevan, Sandeep, Rakshith, Shravan, and Suresh were arrested for circulating the video. Police added that a minor boy is also being questioned in connection with the case.
Except for the minor accused, the remaining suspects have been produced before court.
