Sullia, Nov 22, 2013 : The case of one year and 11 month old baby Sarika who allegedly fell victim to black magic at Charmatha in Nalkur village of Sullia taluk in the month of August is making news at the state level.
Now with a state level TV channel airing news in this regard, the state government has risen to the occasion and the Home Minister himself has sought a report from the SP. Even the Minister for Women and Child Welfare has intervened and there is a vehement demand for a through probe into Sarika death case.
Sarika, daughter of Mohandas, Bhavani couple who was with her grandmother on that fateful day had gone missing suspiciously. Her body was found almost 13 days later at a place called Janukodi two kms away from the house. The body was found in a sleeping position in an areca plank in the river with the head and right hand missing.
Surprisingly, the body was not decomposed.
The police had closed the case saying the child died after it was washed away in the water. A few days later, a senior citizen was also murdered at Uppukala. It took long for the police to trace the accused and by then it came to light that the murders had links to a treasure hunt at Ratnapura.
Priyanka case : The Sarika case reminds one of the case of three year old Priyanka who too reportedly fell victim to black magic at Yeyyadi in Mangalore. The girl was the daughter of Piran Kumar Zha who resided with his wife and two children in a rented house. Little Priyanka who as usual had been to the house of a neighbour Kamalaksha Purusha on December 16, 2010 never returned.
Her body was found in the garden of Purusha the next day. Purusha and Chandrakala who stayed in the former’s house was arrested and both are languishing in the prison even now.
It is not yet clear as to why a 70 year old man and a mentally unstable woman had killed little Priyanka.
Post Mortem report however states that Priyanka was killed by pouring hot water over her body. But the case still remains a mystery.
