Mangalore, May 25, 2012 : The city unit of the BJP organized a protest against the hike in petrol price in front of the DC’s office on May 24, Thursday.
Delivering the protest address, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the UPA government has made life miserable for the common man by hiking petrol price to Rs. 7.50 per litre.
Stating that the UPA government came to power promising that it would serve the poor, but now they have made the common man’s life difficult. He warned that the BJP will stage intense nationwide protests if the government fails to bring down the price of petrol.
Accusing PM Manmohan Singh of being weak and acting according to the wishes of Sonia Gandhi, president of the Congress party, he said that the UPA government has failed to focus on burning issues such as black money, terrorism, Naxalism, and others. He said that the PM should resign immediately as he has proved unfit for his post.
K. Monappa Bhandary, the district BJP leader, Shrikar Prabhu, and many others spoke on the occasion.
The protestors then submitted a memorandum to the president of India to revoke the price hike immediately.
