BJP and religious representatives offer tributes to Dr. V. S. Acharya

Mangalore, Feb 18, 2012: The Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP), along with a number of religious representatives, arranged a condolence meeting in honor of late BJP leader Dr. V. S. Acharya at Dr. TMA Pai Convention Centre on Feb 17 Friday.

 

D. H. Shankaramurthy, the chairman of the Upper House, expressed his condolences over the death of Dr. V. S. Acharya, who was his close friend. He remembered the days he spent with Dr. V. S. Acharya and said that Dr. Acharya has contributed a lot to society. Appreciating the active role he played in banning manual scavenging in his home town Udupi, he said that Dr. Acharya is also responsible for solving CET problems and the problems of rice shortage in Karnataka.

Speaking about Dr. Acharya’s honesty as a politician, he said that Dr. Acharya was an inspiration to others.

Speaking on behalf of the Christian community, Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, said that Dr. V. S. Acharya never turned away when the church approached him for assistance for the post centenary silver jubilee celebrations of Mangalore Diocese.

Dr. K. N. Vijaya Prakash, the CEO of Zilla Panchayat, said that the death of Dr. V. S. Acharya is a great loss to society as his life was an inspiration to young politicians. He further stated that Dr. Acharya was a disciplined person with great concern for social welfare.

Vajradehi Mutt Swamiji Shri Rajashekarananda, Ramanath Rai, and many others spoke on this occasion.

A number of politicians, government office bearers, and police personnel were also present.
