MLA J R Lobo unveiled logo of the 175 years celebrations on the occasion and said that It was a matter of pride to unveil the logo and participate in the 175th year celebrations of the oldest education institution in the district. The Basel missionaries were mainly responsible for removing superstitious beliefs in the society. They worked to provide education to many people and setup many industrial schools.

He also said that the effort of the missionaries in the development of the port city and their service to the society must be honoured. The missionaries started the schools to educate the children and not to commercialize it, but at the present day we hardly find such institutions, established with a purpose to shape the future of children.

Dr Hannibal R Cabral, principal of Karnataka Theological College, Mangalore launched the institution’s new website.

Delivering the keynote address, Walter Maben, president of the celebrations Committee said that The people involved in establishing this institution are missionaries and not visionaries, since visionaries just think about the future, while the missionaries take up the aim to fulfill their vision. One must have dedication in life to transform the vision into mission, he added.

College headmaster Jayashankar welcomed the guests and gathering.

Governing council Vice-president Alwyn Colaco, Treasurer Alwyn Ananda, corporators Rajendra Kumar and Rameeza Nazeer, committee members of the management and staff of the institution were present on the dais.
