Dr. Mahabaleshwar Rao, principal of TMA Pai Teachers’ Educational University in Udupi, said that imparting values forms an integral part of modern education, but for some reason, educators do not focus on values and implement them properly. Urging teachers not to force students to learn values compulsorily, he suggested that teachers must create circumstances in which students will naturally choose values.

In his address, MLA U. T. Khader said that teachers play an important role in the implementation of the RTI Act and urged them to take up the responsibility of compulsorily educating students till they are 14 years of age. He also expressed his appreciation of teachers, calling them the “builders of the nation.”

Among those present were K. T. Shailaja Bhat, ZP president; Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, CEO of ZP; Vijayalakshmi Shetty, vice president of the Taluk Panchayat; Mayor Gulzar Banu; Deputy Mayor Amita Kala; DDPI Moses Jayashekar, and many others.
