Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on Monday, Sandy who hails from Perth, said  through her expedition she was  retracing the seven-year long, 50,000 km journey of German kayaker Oscar Speck in 1932.

She plans to retrace Speck’s journey, through expeditions over a period of five years and says she began her expedition  at Ulm in Germany in May 2011. She reached Gujarat in December and since then has been paddling on her Kayak along Indian coastline.

She paddles throughout the day and returns to shore for rest during the night. Sandy has plans to reach Cape Comorin  and then to Srilanka an back along the Tamil Nadu  and northern coastline of India.

Sandy who enjoys her expedition immensely however has a regret-the language problem which makes it difficult for her to communicate with local people. Quest Adventures from Mumbai is supporting her expedition and has even loaned her a Blackberry phone which would come in handy during expedition.

She funds her expedition by working as a sea kayak guide and instructor for six months in Fiji and Perth.

Sandy has a  blog named sandy-robson.com where she  records her journey and experiences.
