Mangalore, Aug 31, 2012 : Arise Mangalore, an organization that was launched immediately after the attack on young people partying at Morning Mist Home Stay in Padil on July 28, has now changed its name to ArM and has announced that it will submit a memorandum to H. R. Bharadwaj, governor of Karnataka, urging him to take action against the culprits and give justice to the victims.

home 1One of the objectives of the organization is to protest against moral policing in the district.

The ArM has collected more than 2,800 signatures and will submit them to the governor to urge him to take definite steps toward the maintenance of peace and harmony in DK.

The ArM has also filed a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Karnataka High Court on August 25, appealing to the court to give a stiff jail sentence to the culprits. The organization also wants the government to take steps to see that such incidents are not repeated in future and to set guidelines for the media how to report such incidents without violating the victims’ right to privacy.
