Aravind Limbavali warns local people about rising rat fever

Mangalore, Aug 23, 2012 : Health officers as well as local people are worried about the rise in cases of rat fever across Dakshina Kannada district.


Ever since two young brothers died of rat fever on August 13, the people of Bantwal have begun rushing to hospitals whenever they observe a rise in body temperature. As a result, medical staff in hospitals is finding it tough to handle the rush.

A recent report says that six more people have got rat fever in Bantwal.

Health Minister Aravind Limbavali, who had gone to Udupi on August 22, Wednesday, rushed back to Mangalore to meet patients in KMC Hospital. He warned local people as well as health officers against rat fever, which is rapidly spreading across the district.


He stated that he has directed medical teams to pay house visits in Bantwal and Sullia, educate the people, and treat them if required. He urged people suffering from fever to visit the hospital immediately to find out if they have rat fever.


Padmanabha Kottary, BJP president, and Shrikar Prabhu, president of the Mangalore South unit of the BJP, accompanied the minister.
