Anti Narcotics Cell arrests 2 for drug smuggling

Bhatkal, Aug 17, 2012 : The Anti Narcotics Cell arrested two people and seized 7.5kgs drugs from them on August 15, Wednesday. The arrested had reportedly brought these drugs from Hyderabad to Udupi, Kundapur, and Mangalore through Bhatkal.


drug 1The arrested are Abdul Rahman (53) and Mohammed Umahim (42) of Gulma in Bhatkal. One of them is the brother of an influential politician in Udupi.

The Anti Narcotics Cell got a tip that the duo was smuggling drugs. Accordingly, CID Inspector B. S. Sathish and his team arrested the two at Bhatkal Bus Stand as soon as they arrived from Hyderabad. The two had planned to sell the drugs in Kundapur, Udupi, and Mangalore. The Anti Narcotics Cell then handed them over to the Bhatkal police.

The team confiscated 5.45kg of ganja from Umahin and 2.1kg of ganja from Rahman, 2 mobile phones, Rs. 2,725, and many other things from the arrested.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Bhatkal police and the Anti Narcotics Cell.
