Academy organizes Konkani Teachers’ Day

Mangalore, Sep 6, 2012 : The Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy organized Konkani Teachers’ Day for all Konkani-speaking teachers and Konkani language teachers at Mizar Govinda Pai Memorial Hall at Canara High School on September 6, Thursday.

 

 

 

 

MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik was the chief guest of the event and Kasargod Chinna, president of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, presided.

Among the dignitaries on the dais were Eric Ozerio, gurkar of Mandd Sobhann, S. S. Kamath, Karnataka Kalathilak Bharathanatyam guru, S. S. Kamath, president of Canara High School Association, and many others.

Addressing the gathering, Kasargod Chinna spoke about the activities of the association and its future projects, adding that the academy will continue celebrating Konkani Teachers’ Day in future too. He also said that the academy has organized a number of programs, including the Konkani Rath, in which books worth Rs. 12 lakh were distributed free of charge among 120 schools.

Congratulating the teachers, he urged the government to support the teachers by giving them adequate allowances.

In his address, MLC Ganesh Karnik said that teachers play a vital role in the development of students and wished them well.

The academy also celebrated Karnik’s birthday on this occasion.

The dignitaries on the dais presented all the teachers gifts and flowers. The teachers then presented a cultural show, which Ullal Mohan Kumar inaugurated by playing the Gumat.
