AP Government offers Rs. 25 lakh to Kabbaddi player Mamatha Poojary

Mangalore, June 24, 2012: The Government of Andhra Pradesh has awarded a cash prize of Rs. 25 lakh to Mamatha Poojary of Karkala, who was the captain of the India women’s Kabbaddi team, which won the gold medal in the Asian Beach Games in appreciation of her achievements.

Mamatha is employed by Indian Railway in Sikandrabad in Andhra Pradesh.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has also awarded Rs. 25 lakh to Andhra Pradesh Kabbaddi player R. Nagalaxmi, a member of the winning team.

Mamatha was the captain of the India women’s team, which played against Thailand in the finals and won the gold medal at the latest Asian Games hosted in Japan.
