Uppinangady, July 16, 2012 : Alok Kumar, IGP of the Anti Naxal Force (ANF), told reporters that the ANF’s combing operation will continue in the forests as the ANF has confirmed the fact that a Naxal team had visited a house in Holegandi near Shishila.

Addressing reporters after visiting the above-mentioned house, he said that Naxals had taken away rice and groceries from a house, which indicates that they might be hiding in the forests in this part of the region.

An ANF team, under the leadership of IGP Alok Kumar, followed the Miyar to Holegundi route in the forest and found that it is about 2kms. They also visited Aravinda’s house in Ammudange Mucchiradka as the Naxals had visited his house on July 10.

Stating that Naxals are trying to mislead the villagers, he said that no villager must support the Naxals and that Naxals must stop visiting houses. He also said that Naxals are very active in Udupi, DK, Chikmagalur, and Shimoga, but it is difficult to say if they reside in any particular village. Whenever the ANF launches a combing operation, they change their hiding place, he said.

Inspector Prasanna Kumar, Superintendent of Police Vasudevamurthy, and Puttur Assistant Superintendent of Police Anucheth were also present.
