The ABVP leader, who was severely wounded, was rushed to KMC Hospital Mangalore on August 18, but he did not respond even to surgical treatment.

When ABVP activists in Mangalore heard of his death, they gathered near Jyothi Circle in large numbers, opposite KMC Hospital, to protest against the circumstances of his death. S. Ramesh, ABVP leader, urged the governments of Kerala and Karnataka to ban the Campus Front of India as it is spreading communal hatred among students. He also alleged that the CFI has killed several ABVP activists and vowed that the ABVP will continue its fight against CFI activists.

The Kannur police have arrested four people belonging to the Campus Front of India, but only two of them have been remanded to custody.

Rahul R. Nair, chief of the Kannur district police, appointed a squad of 15 members under the leadership of Sukumaran, DySP of Kanur, to probe the case.

The ABVP has also submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Thiruvanchur Radhakrishna alleging that police investigation against the CFI and PFI is inadequate
