Udupi, Aug 30, 2013 : Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese visited the Jamia Masjid at Udupi on August 29, as a goodwill gesture aimed at promoting amity and harmony.
Speaking at a function held in this connection, the Bishop said there is a need to transcend all barriers of caste and religion in order to promote peace and harmony in the society.Mutual understanding is a must to promote communal harmony and brotherhood, he said.
Maulana Mohiuddeen Jilani, Imam of the Jamia Masjid who spoke, said the Shiroor seer of Udupi had attended the inaugural of the mosque, and Puttige seer had attended the installation ceremony of Udupi Diocese. All such moves contribute to well being of the society, he added.
Budan Basha, President of Muslim Welfare Association, Fr Denis D’Sa, PRO of Udupi Diocese, Fr William Martis and others were present.
