A Couple on Pilgrimage Commits Suicide in Dharmasthala

Beltangady, March 27, 2012 : Two people were found dead in a lodge at Dharmasthala. Sources say that, they have allegedly committed suicide and were found hanged at the lodge. They are identified as Balakrishnan (45) and Sharada (38) who were husband and wife. They were natives of Chanthady in Kanhangad in Kasargod district. They were on a visit to the town.

Their three children Unnikrishnan (12), Nithin (9), Harikrishnan (6) have been taken to the Beltangady police station. The reason behind this extreme act is at present unknown.

It has come to light that the couple with their children had come to the Dharmasthala temple on Monday March 26th. They were found dead on Tuesday morning at around 10.30 a.m.


A suicide note written in Malayalam was found on the spot. A ticket bound for Dubai (dated March 28) in Balakrishnan’s name was also found, the police said. The police also leant that Balakrishnan was working in Dubai earlier.
 
Police said that the family of the deceased are on the way to Dharmasthala now.
