6 CAFL students qualify for NCERT scholarships

Mangalore, Aug 18, 2012: Six students of Centre for Advanced Learning (CFAL) in Mangalore have qualified for National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) scholarships through the national-level National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) held in May 2012. 


Making the above announcement at a press meet held in the city, CFAL Principal Severine Rosario said that the Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT) selected 233 of the total 43,833 students who answered the state-level NTSE, and 81 of these selected students qualified for NCERT scholarships through the national-level NTSE. These students will receive a scholarship of Rs. 6000 per annum from Std IX to Ph.D., she added.

The six CAFL students who have qualified are Shishirdeep of Delhi Public School, Shashank P. of Sharada Vidyalaya, Madhu Nayak of St. Theresa’s Bendoor, Manoj of Delhi Public School, and Karan Gupta and Pradyumna B. of KV – Panambur. 


Every year, NCERT gives away 1000 scholarships to students selected through its NTSE exams. Two students from CAFL were selected in 2009 – 10 and four students from CAFL were selected in 2010 – 11. They are now receiving these prestigious scholarships. 


The NTSE exams will be held for students of Std. X instead of Std. VIII from 2012 – 13, and the dates for the state-level and the national-level exams are Nov 18, 2012 and May 12, 2013, respectively. Applications for the state-level NTSE are already available.
