3-day rural sports festival commences at Bhootanateshwar Temple premises

Moodbidri, Feb 17, 2012: Prema Shetty, the mother of Vijaynath Shetty, the trustee of the Bhootanateshwara Temple, inaugurated the 3-day rural sports festival, the Bhootanateshwara Kreedotsava, at Mijar on Feb 17 Friday. 


The first event was the buffalo race.

Later, hundreds of children participated in a slush field treasure hunt, and finally two kids found the treasure. A number of competitions such as painting, rangoli, flower arrangement, and others were held on the morning of Friday. 


One of the highlights was a competition requiring participants to run a race carrying life-size dolls.


Vijayanath Shetty, the organizer of the event, and Dhanraj, the former captain of the Indian hockey team, flagged off the new competition. 


Divakar Chiplunkar, the noted sculptor, was felicitated on this occasion. 


Diganth, Pakhi Hegde, and Shivadwaj, the Sandalwood actors; Dr. Mohan Alva, the chairman of the Alva’s Education Foundation; MP Nalin Kumar Kateel; Devanand Shetty, the managing director of Dix Shipping; and many others were also present.
