Mangalore, July 9, 2013 : Three container vessels M V Oel Kutch, M V Noble Breeze and main line vessel M V Kota Nebula called on New Mangalore Port for the very first time on a single day. The three vessels had around 2000 containers.
A press communiqué from NMPT informed that M V Kota Nebula from East Africa (Port Matwara), a mainline container vessel of M/s Pacific International Lines is the fourth main vessel calling on the port during the current financial year.
The Port has handled 13,595 TEUs of containerized cargo during the current year 2013-14 as against 13,073 TEUs handled during the corresponding period of last year, thus registering a growth of 4 per cent.
Dr P Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT informed that the pro-active business drive initiative of NMPT had led to increase in the number of container vessels and traffic. “From a humble beginning with one vessel during 2007-08, now it is the 35th main line vessel calling at the Port,” he said.
