Mangaluru, Jan 22, 2024: Forest Department personnel have found eggs of Olive Ridley turtles in three places in Suratkal beach. Presently, measures are being taken to protect these eggs until they are hatched.
It may be recalled here that Olive Ridley turtle nesting places were earlier detected in beaches of Kundapur and measures were taken to conserve then until the eggs hatch and the turtles return to the sea.
Measures area also being taken at present to create awareness among the people on the Olive Ridley turtles and the need to conserve their nesting places.
While one nesting site was spotted in Suratkal in December, two others were spotted in January.
