Mangalore, July 20, 2013: Dakshina Kannada SP Abhishek Goyal has informed that a total of 21 Malekudiya youth will be recruited to the Home Guards for a one year period.
Speaking to the media at his office on July 19, Friday, the SP said tribal youth from Uppinangady, Sullia, Kadaba and Belthangady will be appointed and trained in traffic regulation. He said the police department would identify the eligible youth for training. The SP further said the scheme was being implemented at the initiative of the district administration and a sum of Rs 10 lakh has been sanctioned out of the total allocated sum of Rs 19.5 lakhs for the purpose.
He also made it clear that the services of the selected tribal youth will not be utilized for any other work and added they will be entitled for all benefits which the Home Guards receive. They will get a daily pay of Rs 250, he informed.
