17,000 families enrolled into health card scheme

Udupi, Aug 28, 2012 : The Catholic Sabha distributed health cards among 17,000 families at Don Bosco Hall on August 26, Sunday. The chief guests of the occasion were Udupi MP Jayaprakash Hegde, Vicarvar of Udupi Varado Fr. Fred Mascarenhas, Manipal University Registrar Dr. G. K. Prabhu; Pramod Madhwaraj; and Udupi Church President Boniface D’Souza.
Mr. Louis D. Almeida, ex president of Udupi Prantya, presided. Catholic Sabha Central Committee President Nigil Periera inaugurated the program.
Addressing the gathering, Jayaprakash Hegde congratulated the Catholic Sabha for enrolling 17,000 families into the health card scheme.
The organizers felicitated Pramod Madhwaraj for his social service and the financial assistance he rendered to Manasa, a school for mentally challenged kids run by the Catholic Sabha. Student achievers were also felicitated on this occasion.
Dr. G. K. Prabhu spoke on various schemes launched by the Manipal University for Konkani-speaking children.
