Washington, Feb 7, 2026: The United States on Saturday announced that it will remove the additional 25 per cent tariffs imposed on Indian goods after India committed to stop directly or indirectly importing Russian oil.
According to an executive order issued by the White House, the rollback of tariffs will take effect for goods entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouses for consumption, from 12.01 am Eastern Standard Time on February 7, 2026.
The executive order also said that India has agreed to a framework with the US to expand defence cooperation over the next 10 years.
“Products of India imported into the United States shall no longer be subject to the additional ad valorem rate of duty of 25 per cent imposed pursuant to Executive Order 14329,” the order stated.
The US had imposed reciprocal tariffs of 25 per cent, along with an additional 25 per cent levy, on Indian goods in August last year, citing India’s purchase of Russian crude oil.
The executive order further warned that if the US Secretary of Commerce determines that India has resumed direct or indirect imports of Russian oil, the administration would recommend whether to take additional action, including the reimposition of the 25 per cent additional duty on Indian imports.
