New Delhi, Feb 12: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) on Friday asked its executive vice chairman R K Pachauri to go on leave and appointed Ashok Chawla, former finance secretary and chief of Competition Commission of India, as its new chairman.
Pachauri is under investigation for sexually harassing two women who worked with TERI. A governing council meeting of the institute also decided that all executive powers will be with Ajay Mathur, the director general of the institute.
Pachauri was controversially elevated to the post of vice-chairman this week, triggering outrage from the complainants and activists.
TERI, in a bid to control public outrage, asked the former head of Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change to proceed on leave.
