Sohrabuddin case: Key verdict on Amit Shah likely

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, December 30, 2014: The CBI court on Tuesday is likely to deliver judgement on the discharge plea of BJP president Amit Shah who was arraigned as an accused for orchestrating the Sohrabuddin Sheikh encounter.

amit This application for discharge by Shah was filed around the beginning of the year stating that this was a political conspiracy against him. The application came up for hearing around the middle of this month and CBI opposed this application saying he is one of the conspirators of Sohrabuddin and Tulsi Prajapati encounters and thus should not be discharged.

As of now the special CBI court is hearing various applications and the trial has not yet started even after an year of the case shifting to Mumbai. The CBI has charge-sheeted Shah who was the then home minister of Gujarat and 37 others, including several police officers, in the two cases of alleged fake encounters while almost all accused have been granted bails by Bombay High Court.

The encounter of Sohrabuddin and his wife Kauser Bi was allegedly done near Gandhinagar in November, 2005 by Gujarat ATS.
