Siddaramaiah orders CID probe into Thirthahalli rape & murder incident

Thirthahalli, Nov 05, 2014:  With agitating raging over rape and murder of a 14-year-old school girl in Thirthahalli in Shivamogga district on October 29, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today ordered a CID probe into the incident.

Speaking to reporters in Madikeri in Kodagu district, the Chief Minister refuted BJP claims that the government was trying to shield the culprits of the heinous crime and said all those involved in the case will be brought to books.

The incident evoked strong protests after the school going girl was abducted by the culprits and raped. The sick girl was shifted between three hospital in the Thirthahalli town, Shivamogga Government Hospital and then to Manipal facility, where she died.

Mr Siddaramaiah said there had been conflicting reports on the death of the victim and police would bring out the truth.

’There had been conflicting reports on this most unfortunate incident and the government is entrusting the probe to CID for a thorough and impartial inquiry. But the BJP is trying to take political mileage in such serious situation. I condemn it,’ he said.

The BJP had alleged that though police had identified the culprits no arrests were made as they belonged to minority community.
