New Delhi, July 14, 2015, dhns: How much reforms could happen in Indian cricket will be revealed on Tuesday when the  Supreme Court-appointed panel delivers its verdict on the quantum of punishment against Gurunath Meiyappan and Raj Kundra and their respective franchisees.

supremcourtThe panel also comprising former SC judges Justice Ashok Bhan and Justice R V Raveendran.
The SC had on January 22 held that the allegations of betting against Meiyappan and Kundra were proved and it formed the committee of retired judges to determine the punishment for Meiyappan, who was the Chennai Super Kings team Principal and Kundra, co-owner of Rajasthan Royals.

Both were held guilty of betting by the Justice Mukul Mudgal panel, appointed by the court.
The Lodha panel, given six months time to complete the task, was asked to suggest recommendation for changes in the board rules on election to different posts in the board and conflict of interest with regard to players, coaches, commentators and managers.

The court had then passed its orders, disposing of plea made by derecognised Cricket Association of Bihar and through its office-bearer Aditya Verma.

The petitioners had raised the issue of conflict of interest against BCCI’s president-in-exile N Srinivasan and bias against the probe directed by the BCCI in the IPL 2013 corruption relating to betting and spot-fixing.

It had barred Srinivasan from contesting BCCI elections after finding a “clear” conflict of interest between his role as BCCI president and his commercial interest in the India Cements Ltd, which owned IPL team Chennai Super Kings.
