Maharashtra Minister Pankaja Munde Pulled Rs 200-Crore Scam, Says Opposition

Mumbai, June 24, 2015: The Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra has been hit by its first scam. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government has been accused of a scam worth Rs 206 crore.
BJP MP Pankaja Munde is in the eye of the storm after being accused of flouting norms in a Rs-206 crore order she placed during her tenure as Maharashtra women and child development minister.
The minister had allegedly cleared purchase of chikki, mats and books for Rs 206 crore without floating tenders for the same. According to rules, any government purchase above Rs 3 lakh has to be done through e-tendering.
Munde had reportedly cleared 24 government resolutions on the same day.
The Congress party has filed a complaint in this regard with the state anti-corruption bureau, giving a detailed report to the body. The opposition has also sought an investigation into the case.
