Kumaraswamy makes another land scam charge

Bangalore, Nov 20 : Hurling a fresh charge against Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, JD(S) today alleged his family had sold Rs 20 crore worth land and raised doubts about its ownership.



Rubbishing the charge, Yeddyurappa’’s son B Y Raghavendra, MP, said "there is no irregualarity in transfer of funds to his account by the mining company (buyer).

I received money towards sale of land" which he owned at Rachenahalli here, Raghavendra said. Kumaraswamy, who has been coming out with alleged land scams involving Yeddyurappa’’s family, told reporters here that Raghavendra, the chief minister’’s another son B Y Vijendra and his son-in-law Sohan Kumar had Rs 20 crore tansferred to their accounts from a mining firm in Toranagallu in Bellary district in August towards the sale of six acres at a tech Park here.

Raghavendra received Rs ten crore, Vijendra and Kumar Rs five crore each, Kumaraswamy said. Kumaraswamy expressed doubts whether the land sold by Yeddyurappa’’s kin was owned by them or it was denotified in their favour and sought clarifications from them.

"Is the land their hereditary property? Let them prove it", Kumaraswamy said asking the BJP high command "does it have guts to sack Yeddyurappa? Kumaraswamy hit out at Yeddyurappa for his statements that he would decimate JD(S), remarking "nobody can destroy our party. It is the people who have that power".

Turning to Minister for Energy Shobha Karandlaje, who dared him to come to Dharmasthala temple to prove his charge that she had indulged in corrupt practices, he said "I have spared her, considering that she is a woman. If she wants me bring to fore her misdeeds and corruption, I am ready.

" Karandlaje has been maintaining that she purchased 166 acres of coffee plantation in Kodagu mortgaging her residential site in Bangalore and after raising personal loans, which Kumaraswamy had disputed.
