Bengaluru, May 5, 2026: The Shivajinagar police have arrested two individuals for allegedly stealing gold ornaments worth ₹1.13 crore from the Pulakeshinagar residence of Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan.

The accused have been identified as Ameer Ahmed and his associate, Syed Ameer. According to a senior police officer, the prime accused, Ahmed, is known to the family and is a distant relative of the minister’s mother, Sogar Khanam, who filed the complaint.

Gold theft

Police said Ahmed had gained the family’s trust by frequently visiting the house under the pretext of offering help. He was reportedly facing financial difficulties after suffering losses in his travel business. He had earlier sought ₹5 lakh as financial assistance from the family and had also expressed a desire to visit Mecca. When he did not receive help, he allegedly conspired with his associate Syed to carry out the theft.

The duo allegedly pledged the stolen gold ornaments with a private finance company to raise money and later invested the funds in real estate ventures in an attempt to earn profits.

Suspicion arose when Ahmed stopped visiting the house after the theft and became unreachable, with his phone switched off. This prompted the police to track and arrest him.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to the crime. Based on the evidence collected, the police have recovered the stolen gold.
