Karnataka bypolls: Cash worth Rs 1.35 crore, liquor seized by authorities

Bengaluru, Mar 30, 2026: Election authorities have seized cash, liquor and other materials worth ₹1.35 crore in the bypoll-bound Bagalkot and Davanagere South constituencies as of Sunday.

According to a press release from the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, State Surveillance Teams (SSTs) and the police have registered 53 FIRs in connection with the seizures. The Excise Department has also booked 22 serious cases and 16 cases for violation of licence conditions.

As of 3:24 pm on Sunday, 26 complaints were received through the cVIGIL app. Of these, 19 were found to be genuine and resolved, while seven were deemed false and dropped.

On the National Grievance Redressal System portal, 62 complaints were registered, of which 59 have been disposed of, while three are under investigation.
