Don’t blame us if your govt falls: HDK to Shettar

Mangalore Today News Network/DHNS

Bangalore, July 17, 2012: JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy said on Tuesday that his party will not make any effort to topple the BJP government led by Jagadish Shettar and called the dissident activities in the ruling party “an internal matter of the BJP.”

Addressing reporters, he claimed that several discontented BJP legislators had contacted him days ago, but that he had given them suitable advice and sent them back. “BJP legislators have been making use of the JD(S) to blackmail their party. I will not allow this to happen again,” he added.

‘Be on alert’

He also advised Shettar to take care of his party legislators saying some disgruntled individuals may create problems for the government in the extended budget session scheduled to commence from July 19.

“Do not blame us if your own  legislators topple the government. The JD(S) will not be part of any effort to destabilise the government,” he said.

When asked about his efforts to woo Haladi Srinivas Shetty to join the JD(S), Kumaraswamy did not deny that he had contacted Haladi and invited him to join the party.

The JD(S) State president also lashed out at State Congress leaders for questioning his party’s commitment to the welfare of minorities and maintained that it was his father and party chief H D Deve Gowda who had implemented the four per cent reservation for minorities. Kumaraswamy alleged that Congress leaders had lied to the people by claiming that the four per cent reservation for Muslims had been introduced during the Congress regime headed by M Veerappa Moily. Gowda was the only politician to implement four per cent reservation policy for minorities in the country, he claimed.

Congress legislators Roshan Baig and N A Haris accused the JD(S) on Monday of hijacking contributions made by their party towards the welfare of minorities, by trying to make it look as though they had done everything.
