Arkavathi caseBengaluru, Jan 15, 2015 (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday said he had not denotified any land in Arkavathi Layout and the BJP’s plans to seek his prosecution would not prove fruitful, even as two individuals filed complaints against the chief minister before a commission of inquiry constituted to probe into the issue.

According to sources, two individuals filed their complaints before the commission headed by H S Kempanna, retired judge of the High Court of Karnataka, constituted to probe the denotification of land acquired for formation of Arkavathi Layout.

The complaint accuses Siddaramaiah of illegally denotifying more than 500 acres of land in the BDA formed layout. Certain documents were also attached with the complaint, sources said. The complaint has been filed at the behest of the BJP, sources said.

On its part, the State BJP is in the process of preparing a petition seeking a sanction from Governor Vajubhai Vala for the prosecution of Siddaramaiah, accusing him of involvement in the denotification irregularities. Filing the complaint before the commission ahead of filing a petition before the Governor was a calculated move, the sources said.

Speaking to reporters, former chief minister Jagadish Shettar said, “We are in discussion with legal experts on seeking the prosecution sanction. A final decision on our next step of action will be taken soon”.

Replying to a query by reporters whether the BJP was misusing Raj Bhavan on the issue, Siddaramaiah said the BJP might be making an effort in this regard.
