Rajasthan, July 1, 2026: A passenger bus collided with a truck and caught fire on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Rajasthan’s Dausa district early Wednesday, leaving eight people dead and 24 others injured.
The bus, operated by Hans Travels of Indore, was travelling from Rishikesh in Uttarakhand to Indore in Madhya Pradesh when it rammed into the truck. The impact triggered a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles.
Visuals from the accident, which surfaced on social media, showed large portions of the bus and truck reduced to ashes.
Police, fire brigade personnel and local administration officials rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. The injured were pulled from the wreckage and shifted to Dausa District Hospital for treatment.
Earlier, officials had confirmed seven deaths. According to Dausa Superintendent of Police Piyush Dixit, five passengers were charred to death in the fire, while two others died from severe head injuries. The death toll later rose to eight as another injured victim succumbed. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
