386 New COVID-19 cases, rise due to Jamaat event, death toll at 38: Health Ministry

New Delhi, Apr 01, 2020: The health ministry, in a press conference, announced that the number of positive cases has gone up since Tuesday and one of the main reasons for it is the travel by members who attended the Tablighi Jamat event in Delhi, Yahoo reported.

The death toll currently stands at 38, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in its daily briefing. "132 people have recovered.

The death toll due to the virus rose to 38 in the country on Wednesday, 1 April, while the number of cases spiked to 1,637. 132 people have recovered.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has promised Rs 1 crore to the kin of “anyone who loses their life while serving COVID-19 patients”.

The total US death toll from the coronavirus pandemic topped 4,000 early today, more than double the number from three days earlier, according to Johns Hopkins University. More than 40,000 people have been killed in the novel coronavirus pandemic as the disease barrels across the globe.

India is set to increase testing in ten identified “hotspots” where “unusual” transmission has been detected. It includes Dilshad Garden and Nizamuddin, both in Delhi, the others being Noida, Meerut, Mumbai, Pune, Bhilwara, Ahmedabad, Kasaragod, and Pathanamthitta.
