14 burnt alive as bus collides with truck, catches fire in Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Mar 26, 2026: At least 14 people were burnt alive in a tragic road accident near Rayavaram, close to Markapuram in Andhra Pradesh, on Thursday morning.

According to Markapuram police, a bus operated by Harikrishna Travels collided with a tipper truck near a slate quarry, triggering a massive fire in both vehicles. The bus was completely engulfed in flames, leading to the deaths.

The accident occurred between 6:00 am and 6:30 am while the bus was travelling from Jagitial in Telangana to Vinjamuru in Andhra Pradesh.

Several passengers also sustained injuries in the incident. Both the bus and the tipper truck were destroyed in the fire.

Police and fire department teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.

Preliminary reports suggest that the tipper truck, allegedly overspeeding, rammed into the bus while taking a turn near the quarry.

More than 20 passengers were on board at the time. Those seated in the rear portion of the bus were unable to escape and lost their lives. Some of the deceased are believed to be from the Kanigiri area.
