February 20, 2024: Indian batting star Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have announced the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Akaay on February 20, Tuesday.

In a statement released on both their social media profiles, Kohli and Anushka said that the boy was born on 15th February. The duo would go on to request the fans to respect their privacy at the moment.

"With abundant happiness and our hearts all of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay/àä…àä•àä¾àäï & Vamika’s little brother into this world!"

"We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time."

"Love & Gratitude. Virat & Anushka," read the statement from Anushka Sharma on her Instagram post.

Kohli would also post the same message on social media.

Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied the knot in 2017. The star couple celebrated the third birthday of Vamika, their daughter, on 11 January 2021.

Notably, Kohli had prioritised family in 2021 as the then captain had returned home after the first of a 4-Test series against Australiaa to be with his wife during the birth of their first child.

The Indian star had initially withdrawn from the first two Test against England, where India had lost the first match in Hyderabad and won the second one in Vizag. However, the Indian star would then go on to withdraw from the whole series, citing personal reasons and the BCCI backing his decision.

AB de Villiers had initially revealed on his YouTube channel that Kohli and Anushka were expecting their second child. However, a few days later the former South African skipper would perform a U-turn and said that he didn’t know why Kohli had taken a break.
