Mangaluru, Feb 11, 2021: A total of 45 families which were affected by the Pachanady garbage slip in August 2019 were provided with interim compensation as per the High Court orders at a function held at the auditorium of the old court building on February 11, Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and District Additional Sessions Judge Shilpa said the beneficiaries who have any issues relating to the compensation can bring the same to the notice of the advocates concerned and file their objection. She added that the Authority was always ready to help.
She said the compensation amount was fixed after holding meeting with the Deputy Commissioner, MCC Commissioner and the affected people.
MCC Commissioner Akshy Sridhar who was also present said the compensation amount will be credited directly to the bank account of the beneficiaries under RTGS once they sign the agreement. The affected people who have decided to let their lands can hand over their land records regarding ownership of land once the full compensation reaches them, he informed.
He said earlier a sum of Rs 2.5 crore was distributed to those affected as crop compensation while today a total of 45 affected families have got Rs 14 crores interim compensation.
