New Delhi, Oct 22, 2026: An Indian national was among two people killed in an attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday. The other victim was a Saudi national.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh confirmed the death of the Indian national and said two other Indians were injured in the attack. The embassy is gathering further details and will contact the victims’ families.

Airport operations have since resumed, with air traffic returning to normal, authorities said.

In a separate drone attack targeting the Shaybah oilfield in southeastern Saudi Arabia, an Indian and a Pakistani national were injured, while a Nepali and a Filipino national were killed.

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said it was in contact with Saudi authorities and awaiting further information about the incident.

“The Embassy has learnt that one Indian national was injured in an attack at Shaybah oilfield today,” the mission said in a social media post, adding that it would provide all necessary assistance to the injured Indian.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Energy, air defence systems intercepted a drone attempting to target a facility at Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oilfield on Wednesday morning.

The ministry said the interception resulted in shrapnel falling in the surrounding area, causing two deaths and two injuries among residents.

The interception also triggered a fire in a vehicle belonging to a contractor working at the oilfield, outside the facility’s perimeter, the state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing an official source at the Ministry of Energy.

The ministry said the incident had no impact on oilfield operations.

Shaybah is a major oilfield operated by state-owned Saudi Aramco in the Rub’ al-Khali desert in southeastern Saudi Arabia, near the border with the United Arab Emirates. It is an important part of the kingdom’s oil production infrastructure.
