Dubai: Karnataka cultural foundation honours Padma Shri Harekala Hajabba

Dubai, Feb 28, 2022: Padma Shri recipient letter Hajabba was felicitated by Karnataka cultural foundation United Arab Emirates at Indian academy school on February 20.

KCF UAE hosted its fourth edition cultural talent festival called Prathibhotsava, he was the specially invited guest for the ceremony where 250+ talents compete in various categories from seven different emirates participated. The closing ceremony of Prathibotsava had a special guest from coastal Karnataka, an orange vendor to Padhmashree awardee Akshara Santha Harekala Hajabba was a special attraction.

Hajabba was conferred an honorary award by KCF UAE national committee for his lifetime achievement.

Hajabba’s story is very familiar to everyone these days, his burning desire to build a school in his village from his saved penny by selling orange on Mangaluru streets. Now with the help of kind Hearts support and government intervention he managed to run a pre-university college in his village.

He received his Padma Shri recently from the honorable President of India for his amazing work to education.

Padma Shri Hajabba was felicitated by prominent businessman and social worker Mumthaz Ali accompanied from Mangaluru.

UAE KCF national committee leaders and prominent personalities were present on the stage. Zainuddin Haji presided over the function Thaha Bafaqi Thangal did inaugural prayer.

Hajabba expressed his gratitude and love towards the Kannadiga people’s enthusiasm for the Kannada language and support to himself.

At the same stage, Padma Shri inaugurated a learning course of Kannada languages by reading the alphabet of Kannada, and he lauded the initiative taken by the KCF to teach the mother language in the Middle East for the families and children.

Padma Shri Hajabba handed over the champions trophy of the high voltage competition to the team Sharjah KCF, runner up Dubai north and third place to team Abu Dhabi.
