Mangalore, June 11, 2014: Veteran trade union leader, writer and Founder of Vivek Traders Mangalpady Namdev Shenoy passed away at the KMC Hospital at Manipal on June 11, Wednesday morning. He was 75. Shenoy was admitted to the hospital a few days ago following ill-health.
Hailing from Mangalpady, Shenoy had his education in Mangalore and later joined the service of Corporation Bank. He served the bank at various branches and was instrumental in reviving the Corporation Bank Employees Guild. He had even served as National President of NOBW, an affiliate organisation of All India Mazdoor Sangh.
Following his retirement from service, he founded Vivek Traders, a distribution firm for Ayurvedic medicines at VT Road in Mangalore. He had even authored several books on Ayurvedic medicines and popularised Ayurveda through his columns in some dailies.
Shenoy had also served as Founder President of Kodikal GSB Sabha, member of Konkani Sahitya Academy and as President of Bhuvanendra Co-operative Bank.
He has left behind his wife, a son, four daughters and innumerous friends and well wishers.

It is really a shock to hear the demise of Shri Shenoymam. I still remember how he helped me when I was posted to far off place Madurai branch of Corporation Bank in 1977 he had made me to feel at home always. May his great soul rest in peace. Heart felt condolences. |
