Vittal: Another young woman dies suspiciously; fingers point towards hubby

 Bantwal, Feb 22, 2014 :  Close on the heels of the suspicious death of a  young pregnant woman at Shirlalu in Karkala taluk, another similar case has been reported from Kanyana in Vittal.  A young woman who was married just eight months ago has allegedly committed suicide on February 20, Thursday night.

However, her parents have lodged a complaint with the Vittal police alleging that physical and mental torture by her husband was the reason for her suspected suicide.

The deceased woman is Savitha (27), daughter of Uggappa Gowda who hailed from Hirebail in Moodigere of Chikmagalur district. Savitha was married to Sunil, son of Sankappa Gowda of Kanichar  in Kanyana Village. The allegation is that Sunil used to often come home drunk and torture his  wife.

 It is learnt, Savitha had hanged herself on Thursday night. Though she was taken to a private hospital in Puttur, doctor  pronounced that she was brought dead.

Sources said her body bore injuries  in the neck.  A post mortem report is presently awaited.
